Community-Based Chiropractic: Health Education and Back Injury Risk Screening
Author: Dr. Tiffany T. Butler | Date: May 4, 2025 | Read Time: 3 minutes
Back pain is considered one of the top disabilities in the world. According to research, back pain causes restrictions in work duties, decreased physical mobility, and difficulty doing normal activities of daily living. While back pain may not be a cause of mortality, it is work considering how it negatively impacts an individual’s quality of life.
An acute back injury, when left untreated, may lead to chronic back pain. Chronic back pain can result in:
- Decrease in range of motion or joint flexibility
- Pain when performing normal activities
- Limit ability to perform work activities or duties
- Lost wages
- Miss work or call-outs
- Negative impact on relationships
- Mental health issues such as anxiety or depression
While most acute back pain symptoms resolve within a few days, some patients will continue to experience pain even after the normal stages of healing.
To combat chronic back pain in the local community, Dr. Tiffany T. Butler, the clinical director of Harmonious Living Chiropractic: Fitness & Wellness Center has identified and created innovative community chiropractic-based education and back injury risk screening models to target common back pain conditions.
HLC offers two health programs geared towards spinel health and education:
- Healthy Spine 4 Kids Program
- Spine Mobility Program
By participating in local, community-based events that focus on health and wellness, Dr. Butler and her team provide health education on back, spinal, and joint care; as well as back injury risk screenings. To increase sustainability of back pain prevention and injury risk screening, HLC will create and foster relationships in local schools and fitness centers to find feasible ways to maintain a pathway toward health education, prevention, and early intervention.
